Since 1990, the Indiana 部门 of Environmental Management (同上的) has worked with the governor of Indiana to annually recognize outstanding achievements of those who work to protect and preserve Indiana's environment through source reduction, 回收, and proper household hazardous waste management.

Indiana State University was 1 of 29 leaders in 1995 from across the state who did an exemplary job of reducing waste and 回收.

Governor Evan Bayh said, "These award recipients illustrate the spirit of 创新 that is integral to our having a clean and healthy environment for our children and future generations." The award recipients were selected by an awards review committee comprised of the award recipients' peers, including government, 业务, and 回收 representatives. The judges evaluated each project on the basis of program comprehensiveness, 创新, education and outreach efforts, measurable results, and benefits to the environment.

1993 we earned an award for:

Indiana State University is 回收 seventy percent of their waste and serving as the nucleus for the "Coalition of Institutional Recycling" which includes: Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Indiana Vocational Technology, Sisters of Providence, St. Mary-of-the-Woods / St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.

1995 we earned an award for:

The creation and expansion of the Coalition for Institutional Recycling, a cooperative 回收 venture among institutions in Vigo County.

2005 we earned an award for:

The Recycling Center's activities, which have evolved to include an interactive educational component aimed at reducing the amount of materials sent to the landfill.
